Chat
Direct and group messages, and what happens to them.
Chat is direct messaging between accounts. A buyer can write to a seller before an order exists, a listing can be dropped straight into the thread and bought from there, and the conversation stays after the deal ends.
What a conversation holds
- Text and media
- Messages, photos, video, voice notes and files.
- Products
- A listing sent into the thread, with its price and availability.
- Groups
- More than two accounts in one thread, each speaking as itself.
- Delivery state
- When a message was delivered, and when it was read.
What is done with the contents
Nothing. Messages are stored for you and are sent to no provider other than the database and the storage that hold them. They do not rank the feed, they are not used for advertising, and the assistant does not read them unless you hand it something yourself.
Blocking and reporting
You can block an account, which stops it writing to you, and you can report a conversation. A reported thread is read by a person only as far as deciding the report requires, and the decision is recorded so it can be contested.
